WOODSONICS Final General Meeting in Brixen

The WOODSONICS Consortium met at Brixen on 17th and 18th of March 2015, in the final General Meeting of the project. The meeting took place at the MiCROTEC premises, where the industrial WOODSONICS prototype had been installed. Besides updating about the last advancements of the technological development and test results, it was a great opportunity to see the final prototype working.

Review meeting in Brussels with REA

The whole consortium was invited by REA in Brussels on February 28th to discuss the technical progress of the WOODSONICS project with the EC Project Officer and the external reviewer.

The RTD partners presented the progress on the technical work related to the development of the WOODSONICS laboratory scale prototype; whereas the technical SMEs and the end-user partners expressed their exploitation plans to use the forthcomings project results.

The project received favorable assessment from the EC who stated that “the objectives of the project in the first reporting period were achieved”. The EC Project Officer concluded that “the project as a whole has made a good progress in relation to the DoW” and wished the consortium lots of success in the 2nd half of the project.

The University of Strathclyde hosted the M11 meeting in Glasgow

November 12th was the date chosen by the Woodsonics Consortium to attend the 11M General Meeting of the project.

The event was organized by the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering of the University of Strathclyde, who is also one of the researcher organisations of the group.

A general update of the project, in terms of administrative, financial, marketing and communications and technical updates was provided by the Coordinator.

Woodsonics Project launched, first meeting.

Improving competitiveness at European sawmills SMEs.

Last 6th of February, Barcelona was the place selected for the kick-off meeting of the new and innovative FP7 project Woodsonics. CRIC, one of the Spanish partners based in Barcelona area, coordinated the meeting and offered a welcome-dinner to the group.

WoodSonics proposes a cost-efficient in-line wood grading machine which uses an ultrasonic rolling transducer to detect, identify and localize specific defects in pieces of structural timber. It is a 24 months project conformed by partners from United Kindgom, Italy, Spain and Germany.

All rules regarding the Programme  “Research for the Benefit of the SMEs” in the FP7, the technical objectives of the project, the tasks that will lead the SMEs to the target, were reviewed.

This first meeting helped the Consortium shape the technical agenda for other future meetings in order to meet all the challenges of the project on time.
